A graduate of the Women’s Policy Institute as well as the Liberty Hill Commissions Training Program, Dr. Montaño is a county commissioner and academic. She serves as vice president of the Los Angeles County Human Relations Commission as well as founding chair of its policy and advocacy committee. She chairs the Sylmar Neighborhood Council’s government and community relations committee and is a member of the League of Women Voters Los Angeles’ ad hoc committee on criminal justice reform. Her background includes experience in the non-profit and higher education sectors as well as work on behalf of medically underserved communities nationwide. A Valley girl, a Bruin, and a Trojan, she seeks to connect all Los Angeles communities to local government and is an ardent Dodgers fan.
