The purpose of the Council is to participate as a body on issues concerning the Sylmar community and on issues regarding the governance of the City of Los Angeles in a transparent, inclusive, collaborative, accountable, and viable manner.

Your Neighborhood Council advocates on issues like homelessness, housing, land use, emergency preparedness, public safety, Community Events, parks, transportation, and sustainability. They also provide local expertise and a local voice on the delivery of City services to their communities.

Each Council holds monthly meetings of its full board, in addition to monthly Committee meetings with a more targeted focus on key issues or projects.

All meetings are open to the public.
