Residents in foothill communities may notice smoke or haze in the air this week due to a prescribed fire in the Angeles National Forest.
From Tuesday, 4/15 – Thursday, 4/17, provided weather and other conditions allow, the Angeles National Forest is planning to implement a prescribed fire (planned fire) in the Mt. Baldy area. Specifically, the work will be done in the Upper Baldy area, above Mt. Baldy Road and Ice House Canyon Road.
Depending on fire effects and conditions, we will target burning of 20-47 acres during this time.
Smoke could be seen and/or smelled during this time in/around nearby communities, including Mt. Baldy, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, San Antonio Heights, Claremont, Upland, Rancho Cucamonga, etc.
The Forest Service emphasized that the fire is planned and monitored closely for safety.
