The FBI is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest of a man who allegedly shot and killed a 14-year-old boy in Sylmar more than 20 years ago.

Manuel Virgen-Galvan is wanted in connection with the killing that happened on June 29, 2005, according to the agency. Authorities say the teen was shot in front of his home while painting a friend's bicycle.

Virgen-Galvan, who was born in Mexico and may currently be living there, was charged with murder, and a state warrant was issued for his arrest in July 2005, the FBI said. A federal arrest warrant was then issued in January 2006 after he was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

He was described by the FBI as a 5-foot-9, 165-pound man in his 40s with black hair, brown eyes and a missing front tooth.

Federal authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous, as well as an escape risk.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call 1-800-225-5324 or submit a tip on the FBI's website.
