A beloved Sylmar leader, advocate Monsignor Peter Amy, passed away.

Monsignor Peter L. Amy, the beloved long-time pastor of St. Didacus Catholic Church in Sylmar, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2026, at the age of 87. You can find his official obituary details and Mass arrangements on the St. Didacus Catholic Church website or the Angelus News Obituary page.

Msgr. Peter was ordained for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on April 30, 1964. While serving as a priest in the archdiocese, these were his assignments:

• Associate Pastor, St. Joseph Church, Santa Ana
• Associate Pastor, Beatitudes of Our Lord Church, La Mirada
• Pastor, Administrator, Associate Pastor, St. Didacus Church, Sylmar

He served the Sylmar community for nearly four decades, including a three-decade stint as the parish pastor and later serving as pastor emeritus
