A major upgrade to a popular Southern California airport is almost ready for takeoff.
In just a few months, the Hollywood Burbank Airport will reveal its new $1.3 billion, 355,000-square-foot terminal.
The airport released photos on Tuesday showing the construction progress.

The new terminal will replace the two smaller concourses that have been used for decades and will be about 50 percent larger.
The grand hall of the new terminal will feature 14 food options, including a bar with a big picture window view of the runways and Verdugo Mountains.
The new design cuts the distance from the terminal’s entrance to the farthest gate by more than 300 feet. It also increases the distance between the terminal and nearest runway to about 880 feet, which brings it into compliance with FAA standards.
The new terminal is set to open October 13.
The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) first broke ground on the project, known as Elevate BUR, on Jan. 25, 2024.
The location is west of Hollywood Way on undeveloped property that was used in recent years for parking.

Hollywood Burbank Airport first opened in 1930 and serves Burbank, Hollywood and the northern Greater Los Angeles area.
