The 2026 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count estimated 73,040 people experiencing homelessness across Los Angeles County, marking a 1.2% increase from the previous year.

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) released these findings from the point-in-time census conducted in January.

Key Findings for Los Angeles

City of Los Angeles: Total homelessness rose 3.4% to 45,194 people.

Unsheltered Individuals: People living outdoors in tents, cars, or makeshift shelters increased by 7.9% in the city.

Data Context: Officials noted that an accounting glitch regarding shelter beds in Skid Row inflated nearly half of the city's reported increase.

County Variations: While overall county numbers ticked up slightly due to funding cuts, specific regions like the Antelope Valley saw a 37% drop in unsheltered homelessness due to targeted local programs.
