THANK YOU - 2024 LAFD Fire Service Day!

Posted on 05/12/2024

This past Saturday, May 11th, 2024 we held a terrific event that was part of National Fire Service Day!

Here in Los Angeles the LAFD has designated the second Saturday in May as "Fire Service Day". This year, the theme was "Celebrating Community Resilience", with a focus on strengthening the connections that benefit our entire community in times of crisis.

The Sylmar Neighborhood Council partnered with LAFD in holding a fun, action-packed, and treat-filled event for the kids and families of Sylmar and our surrounding communities.

There were demonstrations on vehicles, life-saving measures, educational & resources and let's not forget firetrucks and fire engines to climb on and take pictures.

There were educational vendors from -

City of Los Angeles Fire Department - LAFD,

CERT of Los Angeles - (Community Response Team) -

Mayor's CRT Program -  (Crisis Response Team) -

Los Angeles Children's Hospital -

Sylmar Neighborhood Council -

We give a huge community thank you to "Orchard's Neighborhood Market" for providing water & ice, and Vallarta Market for the wonderful ice cream, and COSTCO (Pacoima) for their support!

A shout out to our California State Senator Caroline Menjivar who came out to give support. The representatives from our LA City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez's and LA City Mayor Karen Bass's offices and the Members and volunteers from the Sylmar Neighborhood Council.
