Heat Advisory Continues

Posted on 06/18/2025

The heat advisory originally set to expire Tuesday night has been extended for another day due to ongoing high-pressure conditions, which are also contributing to poor air quality across the Southern California region.

While the hazy air may pose issues for sensitive groups, most areas can expect continued clear skies, except for some coastal spots near the Pacific, where minor cloud coverage may be present.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the heat wave will persist for at least a few more days. However, a slight drop in temperatures is forecast just in time for the weekend, bringing some relief to all regions.

Health Warnings and Safety Tips

The weather service office in San Diego warned that "Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses," and has advised to "Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors."

Fire Risk Elevated

There is an "increased risk of grass fires, with a potential for rapid spread due to gusty winds, hot temperatures and very low humidities" in places including the Grapevine section of Interstate 5, the Ventura County mountains, the Antelope Valley and foothills, the Santa Ynez mountains and foothills down to the Santa Barbara County south coast, and the San Luis Obispo County interior valleys.
