SYLMAR, Calif. (CNS) -- At least one person was killed Sunday morning (January 11th, 2026) in a crash involving a semitruck and a Tesla on the 210 Freeway in Sylmar, authorities said.

The crash occurred at 5:10 a.m. Sunday on the eastbound freeway at the Polk Street off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters and paramedics assisted the CHP with extracting the body from the wreckage, the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

19-Year-Old Who Died In 210 Crash Identified

A 19-year-old woman who died Sunday morning in a crash on the 210 Freeway just outside Santa Clarita city limits was identified.
Angie Rios, 19, from Lancaster was the woman who died in the 210 Crash in Sylmar, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Examiner’s Office.
Just after 5 a.m. Sunday, Rios the driver of a Chevrolet Volt was traveling eastbound on the 210 Freeway when she struck a guard rail just west of Polk Street, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.
Her vehicle came to rest in the no. 3 lane facing the wrong way, according to officials.
Moments later, a semi-truck traveling in the no. 3 lane struck Rios’ vehicle.
Rios was pronounced dead on scene by officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
As of Monday morning, investigators are still working to determine if Rios died in the initial collision or as a result of being struck by the semi-truck.
