Trash Pick-up on Presidents Day 2-16-2026

Posted on 02/15/2026

This Monday, February 16th, is Presidents' Day. Your Trash Pick-up Service will not be changed due to the holiday.

In Los Angeles, trash pickup is delayed by one day for the remainder of the week if a holiday falls on your regular collection day. The six holidays that cause delays are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas DayYour service is not delayed if the holiday falls on a weekend or if you have a Saturday collection day.

Holidays Affecting Service

How the Delay Works
  • If a holiday falls on a weekday (Monday through Friday), your service will be delayed by one day.

  • For example, if your trash is normally picked up on a Thursday and Independence Day falls on a Thursday, your pickup will be on Friday of that week.

  • There are no delays if the holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, or if your collection day is on a Saturday.

Where to Find More Information
  • For specific information about your service, check the official City of Los Angeles sanitation website.

  • You may also contact your waste and recycling service provider, especially if you are a commercial or multi-family customer.
