Preparation can help keep pets safe during the holiday

This Fourth of July, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and LA Animal Services (LAAS) are coming together to remind you that a little preparation can help keep pets safe during the holiday.

Create a calm, secure indoor space where pets can feel safe and comfortable.

Make sure your pet is wearing ID tags and that their microchip information is up to date.

Skip the fireworks around pets. The loud noises can cause fear, stress, and escape attempts.

Keep holiday foods out of reach. Many barbecue favorites can be harmful to pets.

Let’s work together to keep pets safe, comfortable, and at home this Independence Day.
