Mexico's Independence Day is on September 16. It commemorates the "Cry of Dolores," a historic battle cry by priest Miguel Hidalgo on September 16, 1810, that launched the country's War of Independence from Spain. The celebration is a two-day event, with festivities and parades on the evening of September 15, culminating in a major celebration at midnight and civic parades on the official day, September 16.
