LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) has been made aware that scammers are impersonating LASAN employees, offering assistance related to the proposed Sewer Service Charge rate increase, for which official notices have been mailed. Individuals may appear official - wearing vests and carrying clipboards and even carrying identification cards but they are unaffiliated with LASAN or the City of Los Angeles. Residents are advised to not open your door to them, share personal information or show them a copy of your DWP bill.
LASAN will not show up at your residence unannounced or without a previously agreed upon appointment. Notices for the proposed Sewer Service Charge Adjustment have been sent through the mail directly from the City of Los Angeles; and outreach concerning the rate adjustment is taking place in public forums, at neighborhood and City-sponsored events, in partnership with City Council Offices and through LASAN’s website, social media accounts and hosted webinars.
If anyone comes to your residence or business regarding the Sewer Service Charge Adjustment, this is a scam attempt - they do NOT represent the City of Los Angeles or LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN). Immediately report this and any other suspicious activity in your neighborhood to LAPD by dialing 911.
Information about the Sewer Service Charge Adjustment can be found at lacitysan.org/rates along with information about Level Pay, monthly billing and the EZ-Save financial assistance program for qualified households in need. LASAN can be reached at our 24-hr call center at: 1-800-773-2489 or by email at [email protected].
